Presidential Debate

Directions: Step 1:
Watch at least part of one the Presidential Debates. I’d say at least 15 minutes.

                             Schedule: October 3rd: 9:00 – 10:30 P.M.
                                              October 11th: 9:00 – 10:30 P.M.
                                              October 16th 9:00 – 10:30 P.M.

Using the debate ballot provided in class, score the debate. On the blog, post the last part that asks you to decide who won the debate and why. Just indicate which of the three debates you watched.

Step 2: Pick an article or a television show and also post the answer to these questions.

             1. Title of Article or Show which covered debate (link as well if possible)
             2. What type of media did you use (print, T.V., or internet)?
             3. What did the reporter or pundit say about the debates?
             4. Does the reporter’s discussion of the debate match your own? Did the focus on the same elements of the debate and come to the same conclusions?
             5. Why do you think the reporter wrote about the article the way he or she did?

Who do you support for President? Post for September 10th

For many of you who will vote for the first time in 2012, you have to decide who you will vote for for President of the United States. Go to http://www.newsday.com/elections/where-obama-and-romney-stand-on-issues-1.3692133#4 and cycle through the newsday slide show. Then number and answer the following questions in the comments box:

1. In about 5 to 10 sentences sum up and explain the differences between the candidates on one issue.
2. In about 10 to 15 sentences, tell me who you would vote for in an election between Mitt Romney and Barrack Obama for the presidency of the United States. Explain WHY you would vote the candidate you would vote for, meaning tell me what are the specific areas where you think that candidate is superior.
